Lia Kentzler of the Dalhousie University Tigers’ women’s basketball team represented her country, Germany, in the Fiba 3×3 U23 Nations League in July and August. The Gottingen is the Germany’s native team.
She is 23 years old from Göttingen, Niedersachsen, Germany. She is a six-foot-one center that can guard multiple positions which can be very helpful against a pick-and-roll type of offense. She is known for her defense with her coach, Anton Berry, saying that it is a huge advantage for them in defense because she can guard from the point guard to the center.
An offshoot of the traditional basketball, 3×3 basketball shares a lot with the original variant, including basic rules and regulations. The game is only played on a half-court and one net with three players on the floor and a substitute. A coach cannot interfere during the game. This means that players should be well-equipped in decision making during the game.
The FIBA 3×3 U23 Nations League is a FIBA 3×3 national team competition for men and women under the age of 23 launched in 2017.
Playing for her country was an honour, Kentzler said, one which will help her in the 2021-2022 season.
“It was really a great experience to play with top players from my country and obviously against top players from other nations,” she said.
