The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon known as “the people’s marathon”, is the signature event of Blue Nose. This event welcomes all ages, abilities and fitness levels traditionally occurring annually on Victoria Day weekend. Blue Nose Marathon is a community based and volunteer-driven organization.
One of the events during the weekend is the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run, which is sponsored by the Doctors Nova Scotia. This event is a great way to reinforce the importance of physical activity and allows youth to see first-hand how fun it is to participate in large scale fitness events. Participants can choose between two unique distances, 2KM or 4KM, which showcase some of the finest sights in Halifax including Citadel Hill and the Halifax Commons.
The event will start on Saturday, November 6. With the covid-19 measures still in place, participants aged 12 and over must be fully vaccinated. It is an untimed event so participants can definitely enjoy this activity!
If you are still anxious to go out but want to join the fun activities during this weekend, you can register to complete the Youth Run Virtually. You’d pick up your race kit in person and then complete your distance in a place and time of your choosing.
Don’t want to race? Just get outside and celebrate being healthy in your own way: head out with your kids for a run in your neighbourhood or try a fun fall activity where you can get in some movement and enjoy the autumn colours.
