We are in the age of technology. It is a time where almost all of us rely on technology and internet in everything that we do or need. With its continuous advancement, more and more people are using this as an opportunity to exploit others specially those who are not that tech-savvy.

Good news is, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a webinar entitled: TO PAY OR NOT TO PAY – CYBERSECURITY AND DATA PRIVACY IN THE AGE OF RANSOMWARE 2.0.

This webinar will provide participants with an update on the ever-changing data privacy threats impacting Canadian businesses and the potential regulatory shifts on the horizon. It will be presenting how to address a scenario involving a ransomware 2.0 attack, with the goal of providing participants with practical tips on the types of policies to have in place before a data incident, the steps required to deal with a cybersecurity breach, and the various liability concerns and notification requirements that may arise.

After this webinar, attendees will be able to better appreciate current cybersecurity risks; understand legal obligations in the event of a breach; and learn practical steps to limit liability for member organizations.

One of the presenters of this webinar is Jane Elise Bates, a Counsel at Cox & Palmer. She has worked in Australia, Canada and France, and has 15 years of experience as corporate counsel within government and multi-national corporations in the telecommunications, security, defense, and aviation industries.

Another presenter is Karen White who is the Vice President of Issues and Crisis Management. She provides senior counsel and strategic advice for a wide range of organizations as they navigate complex and challenging files. Karen also specializes in strategic communication planning; emergency and crisis communication; issues and reputation management; and stakeholder, government and media relations.

This webinar is available on February 22, 2022 at 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
