For the past month, we still have a little bit of a hangover with the holiday season. With the time flies so fast we are again in the next month and it is the shortest month of the year! Regardless, Halifax still has many events to offer! We also have a lot to celebrate during this month including African Heritage Month, Valentine’s Day, and Nova Scotia Heritage Day.

Here are the events to watch out from Family Fun Halifax:
African Heritage Month Events (February 1-28): “Through Our Eyes: The Voices of African Nova Scotians”
This theme recognizes the long-standing history of people of African Descent in the development of Canada. Check back for events going on around HRM in celebration of African Heritage Month!

Dine Around Halifax 2022
If you are a family of foodies, you will definitely enjoy this celebration of Halifax’s culinary scene where you can sample some of the city’s best culinary creations. There more than 60 participating restaurants around HRM curated by local chefs!

Groundhog Day with Shubenacadie Sam
Join the handlers of Shubenacadie Sam online on February 2nd as he makes his big prediction live on Facebook. Tune in at 8 am sharp to see if Sam predicts an early spring or another 6 weeks of wintery weather! Also, be sure to check out the ’60 seconds with Shubenacadie Sam’ on the Wildlife Park Facebook Page where they interview Sam and share lots of interesting information on Groundhogs and Groundhog Day.

Snowshoe Demonstration at Ross Farm
Can’t get enough of the winter air? Head on to the Ross Farm on February 5-6 and enjoy the Snowshoe Demonstration where they will demonstrate the traditional art of snowshoe making!

Winter Bike Week 2022
This will be a great news for cyclists! Whether you are new to cycling or a pro you can join the week-long celebration of the winter cycling starting on February 7. The Halifax Cycling Coalition has some great tips on cycling in the winter, riding techniques, and how to stay safe. You can visit https://cyclehalifax.ca/civi/event/info/ for their program of events.

Sackville Snow Days
Enjoy some winter fun at The Sackville Snow Days Festival, an annual winter event that runs during the February long weekend in Sackville. Led by the Sackville Business Association, this fun family event is organized by community groups, organizations, businesses, and volunteers. This event will be on February 18-21. Invite your family and friends and enjoy some friendly competition by building a snow sculpture, colouring an icy scene, and exploring the business district to complete an outdoor scavenger hunt!
