May is one of the most awaited months of the year specially the kids! It is the month where most consider the opening of summer season. It is also the month where we celebrate Mother’s Day.

Delightful Downtown
DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN on the former Halifax Memorial Library building at Grafton Park is back for the month of May with two ‘delightful’ new shows to honour Asian Heritage Month and Mother’s Day. Enjoy The Asian Heritage Month Show every night starting on May 1 at 9:00 – 11:00 pm. Bring your moms for a special show from May 6 – 9 for the Mother’s Day Show!
Halifax Mini-Con
Comic, superhero, and cosplay fans this is for you! On May 9-14, the Halifax Central Library’s Annual is bringing you Halifax Mini-Con! This is an all-ages week-long celebration! Come dressed in your favourite cosplay, check out some great programs, and explore the ever-expanding multiverse! This mini-con includes amazing events like Superhero Scavenger Hunt, Star Wars Gamer Night, and Escape Room.
Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon
On May 21-22, runners, and walkers of all ages are invited to join the Blue Nose Marathon! The Blue Nose Marathon, known as ‘the people’s marathon’, is the signature event of Blue Nose. This event welcomes all ages, abilities and fitness levels traditionally occurring annually on Victoria Day weekend*. Blue Nose Marathon is a community based and volunteer-driven organization.
The annual Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon has a variety of events for walkers and runners of all ages and all fitness levels. There are six running events throughout the weekend and from the 2km Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run to the 42.2km full marathon, there is definitely something that will suit your family.
Daffodil Walk and Spring Celebration
Celebrate the arrival of Spring with a woodland walk lined with thousands of daffodils at Ashton’s Garden Centre! Bring your kids because events of all ages will be available! With magical signs along the walk, a free scavenger hunt, and a colouring sheet, it’s sure to be a great day enjoying the beautiful outdoors! Head to the Ashton’s Garden Centre, 125 Upper River John Road, Tatamagouche every weekend and enjoy this celebration!
Scotia Speedworld CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series
Call all your racer friends because CARSTAR is back at Scotia Speedworld! The CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series will run from May to September with its opening on May 22. From then on, it’s four different classes of race cars every Friday night.
Scotia Speedworld celebrated its grand opening in May 1988 – and was immediately tagged Atlantic Canada’s Action Centre – a description that remains accurate as we enter the 2016 season – our 29th exciting year.
