WE CARE ABOUT OUR SENIORS!
We’ve just announced the Age Well at Home Program designed to help seniors enjoy the comfort and familiarity of their own homes for as long as possible.
A call for proposals is now open, and eligible organizations will have until July 22nd, 2022, to apply for funding through two streams:
– The In-Home Support Pilot Stream delivering one or more specific volunteer-based services to seniors.
– Scaling Up for Seniors Stream – expanding services that have already demonstrated results in helping seniors age in place.
Interested organizations can check out our government website for more information.
Our government is also introducing a Multi-Generational Home Renovation Tax Credit with up to $7,000 in support for constructing a secondary suite for a senior or an adult with a disability, starting in 2023.
SAVING FOR HOMES
The new Tax-Free First Home Savings Account will allow any first-time home buyers to save up to $40,000 tax free! Contributions and withdrawals to purchase a first home, including investment income, will be non-taxable. We are also doubling the First-Time Home Buyers’ Tax Credit amount to $10,000, providing up to $1,500 in direct support to home buyers.
DISABILITY INCLUSION
I am very pleased to share that our government reintroduced Bill C-22 designed to support people with disabilities. We are in the process of creating the Canada Disability Benefit. With restrictions being eased, and life returning to our new normal, I want to wish all the children a safe and happy summer vacation and to everyone else, I hope your summer brings happy memories as we enjoy beautiful Nova Scotia. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible around the community this summer. All the best!
