Summer season is all about going out for a swim! Everyone missed this so here are some of the best beaches you can find in Halifax.

Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park
Located in Cow Bay, this beach is just a 35-minute drive from Downtown Halifax. Aside from taking a swim, you can also enjoy its picnic area, boardwalks, changing rooms, and showers. This is for the whole family because of its spacious and sheltered beach and a perfect place to wade into the calm water with the kids.

Psyche Cove Beach, Taylor Head Provincial Park
If you are looking for an adventure other than just swimming, head on to Spry Bay, Eastern Shore and head to Taylor Head Provincial Park! It offers three different hikes! It is located on a finger like land mass that juts over 6 km out into the Atlantic Ocean. Its unique land formation is the reason for higher winds and lower temperatures thus, giving a heads up for trailers.

Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park
This beach park at the Sambro Creek, Peggy’s Cove Coastal Region, provides visitors different sceneries and activities. It has three white-sand crescent beaches located at the mouth of Halifax Harbour. You can also go for a hike to Pennant Point, for a 10 km loop trail which provides interesting birding and wildlife viewing. You can also appreciate the site of the oldest surviving lighthouse in North America, the Sambro Island Lighthouse.

Martinique Beach Provincial Park
Experience swimming and surfing in the longest sandy beach in Nova Scotia! It is a white-sand beach with open and wooded picnic areas behind the dunes. Boardwalks and hard-surfaced paths offer access for beachcombing and swimming. During sunset, head out and watch as the open skies transform with the arrival of millions of dazzling stars!

Lawrencetown Beach Provincial Park
Known for its world-class surf conditions, Lawrencetown Beach is a mainstay of surfers living here or visiting the province. It has consistent swells varying in size from one sandbar to the next, this sand-and-cobble beach is one of the best places to surf on the East Coast.

For amateurs, you can also contact the East Coast Surf School which is one of several surf schools that offer lessons. You can also rent equipment that you can use after your lesson.
