If your kids love playing sports and want to learn a new one, the Atlantic Tennis Centre (ATC) offers a lot of tennis lessons this fall! The ATC Junior Lessons is focused on the skill levels of kids ages 5-16. Other than having fun, your kids will surely learn a lot because trainers are experts and experienced.
The ATC’s mission is to offer a welcoming environment for all by being inclusive, affordable and accessible. It is guided by its vision to significantly increase tennis participation by making tennis accessible to all.
In order to create a fun way to teach kids tennis, the ATC’s strategy in teaching is established by Tennis Canada and other international methods. Materials and methods will be based on the age and experience of the learners so, don’t worry if your little ones are new to the sport. Beginners will be using smaller courts, smaller rackets, and softer balls.
At ATC, players learn basic rally, serve and net play skills along with activities that build tennis-specific coordination. Each of their lessons include discounted match play opportunities and offers loads of fun.
Learners will be categorized by age. For ages 5-7(Red Ball), the kids will be using an oversized low-compression ball on a smaller court with smaller racquets during their lessons. They will start from scratch from the fundamentals of tennis until they improve their coordination and physical literacy skills.
Kids aged 7-9 (Orange Ball), will also play with a low-compression ball but on a ¾ court size. In this stage they will be starting to learn how to serve, rally, volley and score. They will also be improving fundamental skills so they will be able to rally deeper in the court and will learn to overhand serve.
For Ages 9-11(Green Ball), learners will use a low-compression transition ball to rally but now they will be using a full court. Improving rally consistency and overhand serve will be the point of improvement in this bracket.
Other advance brackets will be using regular tennis balls, rallying full courts, learning game tactics, and will be having advanced lessons.
