You can apply if you are at least grade 11 or equivalent education with related experience; have at least three (3) years of experience working in a service occupation dealing directly with customers; five (5) years of recent driving experience; a valid Canadian driver’s license with a safe driving record and no more than 2 demerit points and no more than 1 at-fault accident. Having completed a defensive driving course and a driving experience in a transit environment can be your assets.
There will be 5 stages of the hiring process which will measure the applicants’ skills, abilities, and competencies.
The first step is to submit your application through their website. One requirement in this phase is to have a valid email address. They will be using email as their primary means of communication so check thoroughly your details before submitting.
After verifying the application, qualified applicants will be invited to a virtual information session through the email address provided. In this stage, you will undergo in-person tests. A test for your reading, writing and comprehension skills will be the first test which the candidate must get at least a proficient score or 5 Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) points. Next test will be a tablet-based assessment that will let you provide a Driver’s Abstract through the Province of Nova Scotia, at the approximate cost of $19.
Test passers will be invited into a panel interview. This will measure the candidates’ competencies that may include Analytical Thinking; Communication; Customer Service; Decision Making; Teamwork and Cooperation; Values & Ethics and Valuing Diversity.
After the interview stage, applicants will be assessed behind-the-wheel that looks at real-time performance. This process is called CORE (Commercial On-Road Evaluation) which takes approximately 45 minutes.
The last step will be the Conditional Offer of Employment. Successful candidates will be notified by the recruiter of their start date and will be required to further undergo screenings.
