Every year, Music Nova Scotia brings together musicians, fans, and industry professionals from all over the world to celebrate the best local talent. This year, they are pleased to announce that Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) will be celebrating its 25th year in Sydney, Cape Breton on November 3 to 6.
NSMW is owned and operated by the Music Nova Scotia. It is a public music festival and B2B music industry conference that celebrates the music of Nova Scotia.
Since the establishment of NSMW in 1997, the music community has come together to celebrate our musicians and industry professionals while taking part in a variety of business training and networking opportunities. In addition to exposing up-and-coming and established musicians to the public, NSMW involves the Music Nova Scotia membership and the music industry at large. Over four days in November, NSMW features workshops, receptions, more than 100 displays, a program for domestic and international buyers, opportunities for B2B networking, and the Music and Industry Awards.
Since then, NSMW has expanded significantly, solidifying its position as one of Canada’s premier music festivals and B2B music conferences. NSMW, which yearly contributes over $2 million to Nova Scotia’s GDP, aims to increase the economic and cultural sustainability of our music industry and communities while introducing Nova Scotians to the music the province is recognized for.
This year, the Music Nova Scotia will be hosting the “Future Builder” Conference. Its foreign delegate program will concentrate on the United Kingdom and the United States while also inviting significant figures from throughout Canada and Europe. This broad group of business experts will examine issues relating to playlisting, alternative occupations, climate mitigation, revenue streams, and much more! At one-on-one meetings, the Support4Culture Mentorship Cafe, and many deep dive round tables, showcasing artists and local industry will have the opportunity to engage and build important relationships with international, national, and local peers.
All NSMW components are accessible to the general public, despite the fact that some conference activities are industry-specific. A delegate’s pass can be purchased by anyone, and all events are accessible to ticket buyers. NSMW is a fantastic example of how workshops, seminars, and public performances can coexist. The festival and performance components of the event are geared at exposing the abilities of Nova Scotian musicians to the general public and industry experts, whilst the award ceremonies are a celebration of success and increase public recognition. The subjects covered at conferences range from imparting fundamental knowledge to examining current and future challenges confronting the music business and offering prospective strategies and answers.
Come all and celebrate the local music of Nova Scotia!
