Another exciting weekend is in store for us! Be reminded that even though the month is coming to an end, there are still many fantastic African Heritage Month events taking place in HRM. This weekend marks the start of the Halifax Black Film Festival, as well as a number of other musical and educational events taking place at Halifax Public Libraries.
Here are some activities your family will enjoy!
Halifax Black Film Festival
The Halifax Black Film Festival (HBFF), presented by TD in association with Global News, honors African Heritage Month. This festival is devoted to providing audiences with fresh perspectives on the world via the lens of distinctive voices in cinema. The HBFF is a vibrant, energizing, and adventurous Festival whose goals are to support the growth of the independent film sector and to promote more films that explore the reality of Black people around the world.
The seventh Halifax Black Film Festival will take place offline from February 24 through 26 and online until February 28. You may view a complete film and location schedule online. Screenings will be held at various sites throughout the city.
Dinosaur Disco
Experience the largest prehistoric creatures ever discovered in the newest featured exhibit at Discovery Centre, DINOSAURS IN MOTION, which has 14 enormous metal dinosaur structures that you can move to the beat of while dancing to silent disco. You may also explore Discovery Centre after hours.
For a roaring good time, dig up your dance moves and dino costumes. Each participant in the silent disco receives a set of headphones they can use to listen to the DJ anywhere in the club. Before leaving, headphones must be returned.
We love Downtown Dartmouth Day
We love Downtown Dartmouth Day is a chance to visit neighborhood shops and take advantage of amazing prices and freebies. Simply present proof of a purchase made that day from another participating downtown Dartmouth business to be eligible for these special incentives (be sure to keep your paper or digital receipt!). Visit these participating stores this Saturday February 25!
Dine Around Halifax
Bring your friends and family and take part in Dine Around Halifax! This is a celebration of Halifax’s culinary culture, during the month of February and try some of the best dishes without spending a fortune.
