The world-class museums and art galleries in Halifax showcase the work of local artists while also welcoming traveling exhibitions from across the world. There is something for everyone in HRM over the coming months, whether you want to share your admiration of the visual arts or want to teach your youngster about the earth and all of its inhabitants.
This list of exhibitions throughout HRM from Family Fun Halifax will help you and your family updated!
Our Painted House at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia
This drop-in activity was motivated by the well-known Painted House by Maud Lewis. You are welcome to construct your own work of art using a range of materials to add to the painted house, which is a nearly exact replica of Maud’s residence. Create something that considers these concepts in light of Maud’s astute observation of the world around her:
- What do you notice outside your window, at home, or in your community?
- What are the things that are important to you?
- What patterns, designs, or images tell a story about your interests?
From November 2022 to April 2023, this project will bring together hundreds of individually decorated shingles made by gallery visitors.
The Annual Pre Shrunk Show at Argyle Fine Art Gallery
Visit the yearly Pre Shrunk Show at Argyle Fine Art to peruse the creations of regional artists and think about making an original, cheap art purchase. The art appreciation lesson can start now that your family is present because opening night was on January 27.
In the center of Halifax, there is a busy business gallery called Argyle Fine Art. People encounter art there, frequently for the first time. It’s a location where innovation is praised! In its more than 20 years of operation, Argyle Fine Art has undergone numerous changes, but one thing that has remained constant is their unwavering devotion to and passion for the art of the Atlantic Canada.
Body Worlds Vital at the Museum of Natural History
The fascinating exhibition Body Worlds Vital provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about our anatomy, our health, and to develop a fresh understanding of what it is to be human.
The exhibit Body Worlds Vital will be on display in local Museum of Natural History from January 27 to April 30, 2023. Through a sequence of full bodies, particular organs, and transparent body slices, this breathtaking show instructs visitors about anatomy, physiology, and health. The most recent data on prevalent ailments, the effects of tobacco use, and the operation of prosthetic body parts are presented on displays. The display promotes healthy living choices by contrasting healthy and unhealthy organs.
