March Break Family Tours at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site
With your family or small group, take part in a special wintertime guided tour of the historic Halifax Citadel (up to 12 participants).
Find out how the British soldiers adapted to life in the fort during the 19th century and dealt with the harsh Halifax winters! Time your tour with the noon gun and experience a Halifax tradition! Visit the site from March 13th to 17th and tour for approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
Halifax Public Libraries
This Saturday, stop by the Musquodoboit Harbour Public Library to pick up a grab-and-go bag with a pirate theme. To help you celebrate, the bags come with a project, an activity pack, stickers, and refreshments. Check out their scavenger hunt and other pirate-themed activities while you’re there.
You can also head to Alderney Gate Public Library this March 11 to watch or compete in the The 2023 March Break Chess Tournament. This is in partnership with the Dartmouth Junior Chess Club and it offers three levels of play: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
You’ll find a colorful space with March Break: Paint Like a Pro at Bedford Public Library. Get inspired by famous pieces of art or create your own masterpiece. Crayons, pencils, and tempera paint can be used to explore with, and you can also learn about the special features of oil pastels and watercolors.

The most ideal time to visit Discovery Centre is during March Break 2023! This March Break will be dinosaur-mite fun! Get hands-on and mind-on with science programming, witness their new Dome Theatre productions, and command enormous dinosaurs in their brand-new exhibit DINOSAURS IN MOTION! You won’t want to miss a thing because there will be so much enjoyment and memories to be made.
Visit the Museum
The largest and oldest maritime museum in Canada is the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. A group of Royal Canadian Navy officers are to be attributed with the idea for the Museum, which was to be a maritime museum where artifacts from Canada’s naval history could be preserved.
There is no better place to immerse yourself in Nova Scotia’s rich maritime legacy than the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which is situated in the center of the city’s historic waterfront.
