A Canadian start-up that develops medical technology called The Rounds has successfully closed its Series A round. The round total rises to $6.7 million thanks to add-on investments totaling $1.6 million from Invest Nova Scotia and Panoramic Ventures, an Atlanta-based venture capital firm.
The Rounds‘ main offering, therounds.com, is a free gated network that enables licensed medical professionals in North America to communicate and share ideas on medical matters with their peers.
The funding will be utilized to keep the platform evolving and give users a safe, seamless, and simple experience.
According to the CEO, Tim Rice, they are thrilled to have the continued support of both Panoramic Ventures and Invest Nova Scotia as they move forward with their mission to modernize the way healthcare professionals connect and collaborate. “The new funds will help us make our platform more accessible and provide even more value to our users,” he said.
The Rounds’ platform facilitates collaboration among medical specialists in Communities of Practice (CoPs). To make sure that novel therapeutic choices and medical advancements are accessible to verified licensed medical practitioners, medical associations and international pharmaceutical firms use The Rounds as a third-party middleman.
Austin Poole, a partner at Panoramic Ventures, said they are still astounded by how quickly The Rounds platform has become the preferred network for healthcare professionals in North America to collaborate, engage, and share knowledge. “We’re thrilled to continue to support the team’s mission to improve global healthcare outcomes,” Austin added.
According to Ben McDade, investment principal at Invest Nova Scotia, their team at Invest Nova Scotia is pleased to have supported and invested in The Rounds for a long time. The company’s success in Canada will be carried over into important healthcare markets in the U.S. thanks to the Series A financing. The Rounds is accomplishing just that, he continued, and there has never been a better time to remove the geographical constraints impeding collaboration in specialist healthcare.
The Rounds has developed ties with national regulating bodies since its founding in 2012, including the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board (PAAB) and Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC). With meticulous verification and authentication procedures, the firm has built the largest database of current, verified healthcare experts in Canada.
