Here are some useful travel tips if you are considering travelling.
1) Check your travel insurance. Is your coverage appropriate? More than ever, Covid has taught us that it is important to have insurance.
2) Passport – ensure that your passport has 6 months validity AFTER you return home. Many countries require this.
3) Connecting times – 3 years ago, to have more than 2 hours at Toronto Pearson airport, for example, was considered a waste of time. Be happy now that your connecting is longer than usual. In fact, insist upon it. For a list of useful travel tips, sign up at www.almontravel.ca
Post Covid, travel is becoming increasingly prevalent. I just returned from three weeks in Vietnam and it was interesting to see what tour operators and the airlines were expecting in terms of covid protection: and to see how the traveling public was reacting to it.
I know that we took exceptional precautions a week or more before we started travel with the aim of not catching anything that might create a problem to start our trip overseas, and we were successful.
In the various airports that we visited the majority of people were not wearing masks. In the four areas in Vietnam that we visited, the same was true. So, the world is returning to normal. I was with a group of 13 people: did any of them become sick during this time? Yes, but it was not covid! It was upset stomach, ear infection, headaches and other typical a ictions which had to be dealt with, no di erent than pre-Covid.
I suspect that similar situations are experienced around the world. So, safe to travel? Although no one can give a perfect guarantee, even pre-Covid, it certainly looks to me as though it is ne to resume travel planning.
Thinking about that bucket list trip?
River cruising is often at the top of people’s minds when they think of bucket list. We have experienced 10 different river cruises around the world and can advise you what to expect on your river cruise.
If history, culinary delights and cultural experience is top of list, then a coach tour with Trafalgar or another ne company is something to reflect on. Italy is a wonderful country to experience by coach tour: Northern Italy has lots of choices to consider. The UK also has superb coach tour options.
Ocean cruises are also popular: I have had many requests for Caribbean and Alaska itineraries. With global warming affecting glacier melting, if Alaska is on your bucket list, you might want to move it to the top.
