The H2O: Home to Overseas Conference will be held at the Halifax Convention Centre from Monday, June 12, to Wednesday, June 14, 2023. This conference is being organized by the Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia in collaboration with the Government of Canada, the Province of Nova Scotia, and the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship.
With substantial international participation—25 nations were represented at the conference in 2021—this conference is quickly emerging as Canada’s top gathering for maritime technology.
Ocean technology is described as a horizontal industry that includes the technologies applicable to such vertical industries as marine transportation, aquaculture, fisheries, and tourism as well as marine energy (offshore extractive and renewable).
Groundbreaking ocean research and a robust cluster of ocean companies are located in Atlantic Canada, particularly in Nova Scotia. With the potential to significantly contribute to a number of Global Value Chains related to the oceans sector, including but not limited to Marine Defence, Marine Energy, Marine Observation, Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology, Marine Tourism, and Marine Transportation, this region is quickly establishing itself as a hub of oceans expertise on a global scale.
A great opportunity to interact with the ocean technology sector is the H2O Conference. International delegations, talks on research, development, and commercialization, and B2B meetings will all be featured at the conference. On-water demonstrations at the Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship (COVE) will also be part of the conference this year.
On the 13th of June, sessions will focus on Offshore wind development; Vessel decarbonization; Increasing industry capacity through skill development; Underwater sensors as an enabler; Blue Technology ventures; and Autonomous vessels in complex environments.
On the last day, it will feature COVE Demo Day. On-site at COVE’s campus in Dartmouth, COVE Demo Day provides interactive and captivating presentations from top marine technology pioneers. COVE Demo Day, a component of the OTCNS-led H2O Conference, offers a top-notch presentation of the latest marine innovation and research.
In 2022, COVE Demo Day was attended by over 350 manufacturers, service providers, and business executives from over 180 organizations and 21 nations. Visitors took part in interactive demos from more than 30 different businesses showing cutting-edge advances in marine technology. COVE Demo Day will be bigger and better this year with more engaging programs and unparalleled networking possibilities.
