It’s the last month of spring season but that doesn’t mean the fun should end! Halifax is packed with events, adventures, and blooms. With Discover Halifax’s list of things to do in Halifax in May, you and your family and friends can make the most of the month!
See Halifax in full bloom
Looking for the greatest locations to enjoy the view? The Halifax Public Gardens, the only authentic Victoria Garden in North America, are the place to go if you want to feel as though you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. Take a stroll through to observe a variety of spring flowers, and if you’re fortunate, you might even spot the cute ducklings scuttling around.
Find over 30 cherry trees bursting with pink blossoms on the eastern edge of the Dartmouth Commons by Leighton Dillman Park on Park Avenue if you’re looking for the best places to see cherry trees in full bloom. Be sure to bring a camera to this location to get the most beautiful spring Instagram photos.
Explore the Open City
Open City is an annual celebration of all the small businesses and entrepreneurs who make the Halifax peninsula and Downtown Dartmouth unique, lively, and welcome.
Get outside on May 13 and check out the numerous neighborhood businesses that are extending their welcome mats and opening their doors to provide special treats, features, and fantastic deals. There’s no better way to experience Halifax from a local perspective with takeout being served by some of the city’s greatest chefs, amazing prices at local boutiques, interactive activations, and live music.
Discovery Centre presents Science of Beer
Discover the science behind a good brew, meet masters in the Nova Scotia craft brewing community, and titillate your taste senses with Science of Beer, sponsored by Discovery Centre.
You now have the opportunity to interact with and sample some of the greatest brews from the 48 distinctive and passionate members of the Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia, who come from all parts of the province. In addition, you may participate in science experiments and demonstrations from the Discovery Centre team, learn about style features, ingredients, and the brewing process from Master Brewers in a guided experience, AND hear live Celtic music performed by the Fine Tuners.
