Summer is here and it’s time to beat the heat! The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) has plenty of playgrounds with splash pads to offer for families and children to cool down during the hottest months of the year. Here are some of the best playgrounds in HRM with splash pads, and what makes them the perfect destination for fun in the sun!
Westmount School Playground and Splash Pad
There is an accessible playground at Westmount School that is great for wheelchairs and strollers. A great, large field and some tennis courts are also there. The Halifax Shopping Centre is directly across the street from Westmount, making it simple to travel there by public transportation or combine a trip there with some playground time. A good way to spend a summer day, I’d say! They are located at 6700 Edward Arab Avenue.
Isleville Park Playground and Splash Pad
Isleville Park in Halifax’s North End contains three play structures, each suited for a different age range, as well as a really cool splash pad. A covered sandbox and two swing sets are also present. With a few park chairs, picnic tables, and covered spaces to sit in, Isleville has a really lovely atmosphere. Visitors to this playground come from all across the neighborhood. Bring the whole family at Sebastian Street, Halifax!
Lake Banook Lion’s Park Beach and Playground
The Lake Banook Canoe Club is across the street from a small, sandy beach that’s ideal for a quick family swim. There is a tiny playground with a swing set nearby (you must cross a small bridge). Visit them at 10 Nowlan St., Dartmouth.
MacDonalds Beach Park
This one’s for you military families! The DND/12 Wing Shearwater owns the playground at MacDonalds Beach Park, which is situated immediately on a magnificent sandy beach and is accessible to the general public. They are located at Shearwater, MacDonalds Beach Road
Kearney Lake Playground and Beach
One of the favorite spots during the summer is Kearney Lake. The playground and swings will be directly in front of you, on a gradual slope, and will be shaded by trees if you park on Saskatoon Drive (turn right). When you’re prepared to swim, descend the hill to the little sandy beach. Swimming lessons are free and lifeguards are on duty during the summer. Visit them at Saskatoon Drive, Halifax!
Bedford Lion’s Club Playground and Pool
To locate a playground featuring swings, climbing walls, a basketball court, and a huge jumping rock, go all the way to the end of Shore Drive in Bedford. The Bedford Lion’s Club swimming pool is right next door and during the summer HRM conducts lessons there. Another tiny forested area with a brook is there, which is ideal for a short stroll back to the parking area. You can find this playground at 277 Shore Drive, Bedford.
