The $2.5 billion ICT and digital technologies sector in Nova Scotia is represented by Digital Nova Scotia (DNS), an industry organization.
Their goal is to promote the development of Nova Scotia’s digital economy. They are able to engage with their online community and proudly highlight its accomplishments thanks to their programs, events, and chances. They are assisting their industry as it expands, changes, and thrives by promoting IT possibilities, strengthening collaborations, and developing the necessary skills.
This year DNS will be recognizing the best in the technology sector at the 2023 Tech Forward Awards. The 8 distinct honors in the Tech Forward honors, given by RBC, are created to commemorate, showcase, and honor businesses, owners, and individuals that are making a difference in Nova Scotia’s ICT sector. These awards include the Digital Diversity Awards, which were started in 2016 to encourage and support those who have historically been underrepresented in the tech industry in Nova Scotia.
They have come to understand the importance of community leaders and how diversity in Nova Scotia is fostering innovation. Nominees in all categories may submit their own nominations, those of peers in the sector, as well as those of their employers or organizations.
The Tech Forward Awards were created after the non-profit organization that had been hosting the Digital Diversity Awards for seven years realized and acknowledged that there had been a missed opportunity to highlight and showcase diverse voices and their experiences alongside the leaders in Nova Scotia’s technology sector. Through this redesigned event, DNS makes use of its platform to promote collaboration and elevate historically underrepresented views. DNS is able to unite everyone and advance Nova Scotia’s expanding digital sector by fusing the Digital Diversity Awards and the digital Forward Awards.
DNS is dedicated to diversity because it understands that diversity fosters creativity and competitiveness, two factors crucial to the ICT and digital technologies sector, the fastest-growing industry in the province. Diversity and innovation enable wider perspectives, speedier problem-solving, and a more collaborative environment for everybody to prosper as the industry continues to grow and adapt. Knowing this, DNS supports programs that promote Nova Scotia as an attractive place to work, while emphasizing narrative change and embracing diversity and innovation. As DNS connects the digital community and highlights its successes through a variety of programming, events, and partnerships, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of its work. The organization also supports the sector through skill development, capacity building, industry events, collaboration, and the promotion of IT opportunities.
The Talent Champion Award, Tech for Good Award, Thinking Forward Award, Provincial Spotlight Award, Best of Tech Award, One to Watch Award, Role Model Award, and Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award are among the Tech Forward Awards that DNS is now taking nominations for.
