The Probus Club of Halifax is a member of the worldwide organization of Probus Clubs. It all started many years ago when Rotary International decided to form a new club for their members who were required to leave Rotary due to age and personal retirement. The new club was called Probus an acronym for Professional and Business which is the basis for Rotary Membership.
The Probus Club movement grew at an astronomical rate and currently has millions of members around the world. In 1999 two members of the Rotary Club of Halifax Northwest decided to form a Probus Club in Halifax. Their efforts were successful and in September 2000 the new club was chartered with 30 charter members. The Club has grown and prospered and currently has a membership of 120. To assist in the growth of the Probus movement the Halifax club has fostered the development of four new clubs in Nova Scotia.
Probus is a social club for retired men and women providing an opportunity to meet socially and enjoy an interesting program of talks, presentations, and activities. The club is purely social, and members have no obligation to participate in any fundraising activities.
Membership in Probus will enrich your retirement years and expand your number of friends. T e Club meets monthly on the third Thursday except in July and August.
So, give your retirement a boost and contact the club at probusclubhlfx@gmail .com and see for yourself what a great time you will have as a member.
