Dealing with Supernatural Occurrences

Given we are in October, and it is the month of Halloween, I thought it a good time to have a chat about things that go bump in the night. Many of us have had experiences from the psychic side of things that may defy a logical explanation and yet something bizarre occurred. It is written in the Bible; God created all things visible and invisible. It is the invisible I am referring to. Recently a world-renowned astronomer who is also a Jesuit priest stated humanity cannot begin to even comprehend the intelligentsia of the Being who created this infinite universe of ours comprising of probably trillions upon trillions of stars. Father Carlos Martins who is in charge of relics for the Catholic Church and spent time at St Michael’s parish as a deacon in Spryfield is also a leading Exorcist and host of the highly popular Exorcist Files web program. He states unequivocally that the devil exists, and evil is very real and a present danger to all of us. Baptism and the church can help protect us from it, but we still have to pray regularly and practice our faith to deter the many evil forces that can harm us. Yielding to temptation is perhaps our biggest mistake as it can literally open the gates of hell.

Many years ago, our family lived in Spryfield in Leiblin Park. One particular night I was having a dream which I believe was a premonition of impending disaster. The dream was hurricane like with rapid fire activity. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light near the ceiling of our bedroom. Something made me get up and go to our living room where I looked out our picture window. It was pouring rain. I could see a flashing light of what seemed like a vehicle at the end of the street. I saw what looked to be a young woman sitting at the curb. She then got up and made her way to the nearest house and knocked on the door. It was in the wee hours of the morning. I had this urge to go out and help but I seemed paralyzed to do anything. Something was holding me back. I heard sirens in the distance where upon I went back to bed. The next morning there was a beehive of activity at the end of our street. There had been a terrible accident in which four young people had lost their lives. Another was seriously injured and apparently the young woman I saw was the only one uninjured. What I had experienced in psychic terms was I believe a forerunner. I had met the invisible world God created head on and it changed my whole perception of things.

Recently my wife and I were asked if we could take our grandson to a birthday party at Oakfield Park. We were thrilled to do so. My wife and I were the senior celebrants, and we were amazed how many of the parents were from away. Most there were relatively new to Halifax coming from as far away as South Africa. One of the couples we met had recently moved from Ontario. The wife who was very chatty said to me we really like going to the Five Fisherman restaurant. She went on to say do you know it is haunted? I said I had heard that. She said the staff have told her about their experiences and every staff member who works there has had an experience with a ghost. The most common sightings are of a young girl and an elderly gentleman dressed in black. Apparently, they cannot leave dishes out over night as they will be all smashed come morning. She said one of the staff told her she felt this burning on the side of her face. When she looked in the mirror, she was shocked to see a handprint on her face. Now that is scary! As our conversation ended it made me wonder how much is out there, we mere mortals do not understand. They say you never ever should fool around with the supernatural so with that I can only conclude the truth is out there and someday we will hopefully know it. Happy Halloween! Boo.
