Atlantic Superstore locations in Nova Scotia contribute more than $71K.
Representatives from the IWK Foundation, along with an IWK patient family, Atlantic Superstore colleagues and other special guests, gathered at the Joseph Howe Atlantic Superstore in Halifax to announce a donation of $137,790 that was made possible through in-store donations to the 2023 Give a Little, Help a Lot campaign by customers and colleagues at Atlantic Superstores across the Maritime region. This total includes $71,625 raised by stores here in Nova Scotia.
Atlantic Superstore and its customers have been proud supporters of the IWK Foundation since 1989, donating more than $3.7 million to the Foundation during that time. The Give a Little campaign is an annual program that generates funds for the most urgent priorities of IWK Health.
“The Give a Little, Help a Lot fundraising campaign has been raising vital funds for the IWK for an incredible 15 years, and it’s all thanks to the passionate and dedicated staff , as well as the generous Superstore customers,” said Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO, IWK Foundation. “Together, they are ensuring that Maritime children and families can continue to receive the best specialized care close to home and when it matters the most.”
Participating in the celebration event were Amelia Mugford, 7, her mother, Jody Mugford, and her older sister, Adelyn. The Mugford family knows all too well the importance of supporting the IWK, where Amelia has been a patient since just two weeks after she was born.
“Amelia is still here with us today because of the amazing care of the IWK. They’ve saved her life more than once, and they do so every single day for beautiful children in our Maritime provinces,” said Jody Mugford. “Thank you to Superstores, staff and shoppers for making this generous contribution to help support children like Amelia and so many other families!”
Ken Chapdelaine, District Manager with Atlantic Superstore in Nova Scotia, has been directly involved with the Give a Little campaign at the local stores since its inception. “The IWK does an outstanding job of taking care of kids from across the Maritimes,” said Chapdelaine.
“As a company, we are extremely proud to partner with the IWK Foundation to help support this care. I’d like to acknowledge the generosity of our customers who, year after year, embrace the Give a Little campaign by donating when they do their grocery shop – we know they recognize the campaign’s positive impact on children and families from across the Maritimes who need the support and expertise of the IWK.”
