Prepare yourself for an exciting weekend filled with exploration as you learn all the reasons why HRM is the ideal playground for family time.
Woody the Talking Tree
Woody, our dear friend, is back! After leaving the Mic Mac Mall more than 15 years ago, the most “Hali-famous” of all, the famed talking tree, has made an incredible comeback. He became well-known last year! This is your chance to present this unique individual who captivated our collective imagination to the next generation!
Santa Claus, everyone’s favorite and Woody’s longtime friend, arrives home to the shopping center through Entrance #3 at 10:00 a.m. He greets kids, friends, and families on the way to Center Court, where he will then lead the holiday tradition of waking up Woody with the assistance of the cheering crowd.
SaltWire Parade of Lights Presented by Eastlink
Celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with a parade and a visit from the Jolly Old Fella! As usual, the Parade starts at 6 p.m., but this year’s route will be a little bit different.
Once again, Downtown Halifax will be illuminated and the Christmas season will be helped to get underway by the 28th Annual SaltWire Christmas Parade of Lights, presented by Eastlink. The parade will start at the Cogswell Street roundabout, which is close to the Emera Oval and Citadel Community Center, on November 18, 2023, at 6 p.m. It will travel south on Ahern Avenue, onto Bell Road, then to South Park Street, east onto Spring Garden Road, turn left onto Barrington Street, and end at George Street.
Bedford Lights Parade
An annual joyful celebration in Bedford is organized by the volunteer group Light Up Bedford celebration. Since its inception in 1998, the parade has grown to be a beloved custom for many families in Bedford and the neighboring areas. The main goals of the Light Up Bedford Parade are to unite the neighborhood for a joyous evening to kick off the Christmas and generate funds for an HRM-based nonprofit organization.
November 19th, Sunday, is the parade day for this year. It starts at DeWolfe Park at 5:45 and proceeds along the Bedford Highway to the last bridge at Bedford Place Mall.
