Citadel Hill
Among the best tobogganing hills in Canada is Citadel Hill. Citadel Hill offers many of spots for sledding, some with larger expanses for slowing than others. Situated on the western slope of the hill, The Wanderer’s Grounds boasts an extended landing zone and a steep slide. Be sure to use a helmet and carefully consider your route! Why not take a fall down Spring Garden Road to one of the many cafes for a well-earned hot chocolate after sledding?
The Pit
This North End landmark, also referred to as “Merv Sullivan Park,” is not to be taken lightly! Unless you fly off your saucer first and hit one of the other daredevils you meet, you will gain speed all the way to the bottom of this former quarry due to its high inclination. Helmet use is recommended. Crazy Carpets should be avoided. Enough with this ridiculous hill!
Gorsebrook Field
This is a broad, spacious hill with different slopes. Our “Readers Choice” Award goes to Halifax’s South End’s Gorsebrook Hill. Whenever someone asks, “Where in Halifax is the best place to go sledding?”They bring up Gorsebrook.
The Old Ashburn Golf Course
Ashburn Golf Course, located in the West End, has long been a favorite among Halifax’s tobogganists and sledders. In addition to the main tobogganing slope, there’s a spot where snowboarders may pop 360s due to a lip with a smooth transition.
The Mother Hill, behind Mount Saint Vincent University
Sledding is great on the hilltop where the Mother House formerly stood. You can climb upward through the MSVU campus, through the subdivision, or from the back to access this hill. The Mother Hill is among the greatest places in the city because of its ideal length and gradual climb.
Get your sled, bundle up, and enjoy Halifax’s winter to the fullest. It’s time to enjoy sledding to the fullest!
