Families in Halifax look forward to their weekend getaways at the end of April with great anticipation as the soft spring wind blows across town. The city comes alive with an array of events catered to every age group and interest, from cultural celebrations to outdoor adventures. This magical time of year offers something for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re a visitor hoping to take in Halifax’s vibrant spirit or a native looking for new experiences.

Family Fair Day
Seville’s April Fair, a yearly celebration of life’s joys via dance, music, art, and cuisine, is characterized by light, color, and joy.

Come celebrate spring Spanish style on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is their second annual celebration of spring.

Unicorn Theatre Presents Dear Edwina Jr.
A 1995 theater camp at the Shore Club in Hubbards served as the seed for the development of the Unicorn Theatre in St. Margarets Bay. Hubbard hosted the premiere of the theater’s inaugural play, Annie, in 1996.

The Unicorn Theatre now operates out of St. Margarets Bay’s Bay Community Centre and provides a comprehensive theatrical curriculum for students in grades three through eleven. They cast two main shows each year, one in the fall and one in the spring, through auditions. Dear Edwina Jr. ticket sales are currently underway. Come and be amazed this weeked at The Bay Community Centre!

Mastermind Toys Events: Make & Takes
The Bayers Lake and Dartmouth Crossing locations of Mastermind Toys host regular events, which occasionally include storytime on Thursdays at 4 p.m.

This weekend, unleash your creative side and paint a Little Monsters picture as they host Creart Paint by Numbers Little Monsters. Visit any Mastermind Toys Store this weekend and get creative!

Family Literacy and Heritage Fest 2024
On April 27, 2024, the Family Literacy and Heritage Fest will take place! This free event, which is being hosted by Nova Noble Cause Society in association with Halifax Public Libraries, includes inspirational speeches, an art display, and cultural performances. Fun activities and interactive games will also be available, including a Kids’ Corner. Put pure family fun, literary study, and cultural enrichment on your schedules.

Bring the whole family at the Paul O’Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library this weekend!
