Cost to own
While charging an electric vehicle battery is not free, it is far less expensive than filling up with gas. In addition to saving money at the gas pump, EVs may be less expensive to maintain than conventional cars. One benefit is that routine tune-ups and oil changes are not necessary. In addition, an electric car has fewer moving parts than a gas or diesel car, which means that components like the exhaust system and gearbox will last longer and fail less frequently.
Range per charge
The range of EVs is one of the primary issues that customers have. The majority of EVs available today can drive 200 to 300 km on a single charge, while the best models can reach 600 km or more. A plug-in hybrid car, which runs on battery power until the battery runs out, can be a good option if you need to travel both short and long distances.
Rebate eligibility
For the purchase or leasing of EVs for personal use, the federal government of Canada is offering rebates of up to $5,000 through the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles Program.
For companies wishing to purchase or rent medium- or heavy-duty work vehicles, there is also a scheme. The program is known as the Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Program, and it offers incentives of up to $200,000 for each qualifying car.
