Every summer, Halifax transforms into a center for emerging debaters who want to improve their oratory and boost their self-confidence.
Our goal is not only to raise well-behaved children but also successful adults! Effective communication is one of the most important skills that anyone can acquire. This can help your family dynamic and set your children up for amazing adulthood. Debate Camp Halifax provides youngsters with warm, entertaining, and thought-provoking summer day camps to help them develop their debating abilities.
Debate Camp is open to children of all skill levels and comfort levels, not just seasoned debaters. Over the course of the week, campers will develop transferable skills like conducting research, brainstorming, speaking clearly, and collaborating with others in a group. Daily debating, public speaking, and Model UN activities can help your children develop the self-assurance they need to succeed in the upcoming school year and beyond. Debate Camp Halifax will offer opportunities for overnight accommodations as well as on-campus instruction at Armbrae Academy and King’s Edgehill this year.
Youngsters are grouped according to age and experience in small groups with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8. Partnerships engage in debates with an emphasis on cooperation. Teams will prepare for and participate in an age-appropriate parliamentary-style discussion. For instance, advanced debaters may argue for or against the statement that “the production of biofuels causes food insecurity,” while students in grades 5 and 6 can debate the idea that education should only be provided four days a week.

For students in grades 7 through 11, the Overnight Camp is better appropriate for seasoned debaters. In addition, participants will take pleasure in games and swimming outside. It is more important than ever to be able to communicate effectively in a time of rapid technology advancement and changing social dynamics. In addition to gaining vital communication skills, campers also develop a lifelong love of learning and the craft of persuasion as they venture through the program.
