I am very happy to announce that AlmonTravel has been selected as the exclusive travel agency for the Retired Teachers Organization of Nova Scotia (RTO)! This is in addition to Almon travel being named as the exclusive travel agency for CARP NS (Canadian Association of Retired Persons, NS).
Travel is becoming a lot more accessible nowadays: flights are experiencing not so many itinerary changes, prices are stabilizing, and people just seem more comfortable travelling. People seem to be more accepting and are beginning to think less of “just getting away” and thinking more about the exotic or bucket-list types of travel that are out there.
I make it a policy that a week before I travel to be a little more cautious in my overall exposure in public places. That means wearing a mask so that I don’t pick up anything prior to my travels. Will I wear a mask on the plane? It simply depends on how I feel at that time. I will be keeping a close eye on the obvious health of those surrounding me.
Bucket-list travel
Now is the time to think about those exotic trips that we have read about and perhaps seen through various media outlets. Preparing for an Egyptian Nile cruise, for a two week coach tour through Italy, a tour of Vietnam together with a Mekong river cruise, an extended winter stay in Portugal or Spain or a luxury ocean cruise perhaps offered by Viking, Emerald or Scenic cruises: these all ought to be prepared about a year in advance to take advantage of early bird savings, which sometimes include free or discounted air and to get the best choice of stateroom for accommodations.

One thing that has crossed my desk recently is a new app for your smartphone that eliminates the need of purchasing foreign country sim cards to avoid the exorbitant roaming charges that your cell provider offers. This is an app you download onto your phone and then activate as needed, looking at the countries that you visit. It is a reasonable cost and eliminates the chance of you losing your original sim card, in addition to providing convenience. I am told that with some of these apps, you can maintain your own phone number. I’m looking further into this and would be happy to share my information.
