Halifax Burger Bash will take place from April 11th to 20th at various restaurants across the Halifax Regional Municipality. This is a great opportunity to support local, support Feed Nova Scotia, and discover new eateries. The burgers often highlight the creativity of the kitchens of their respective restaurants and involve a lot of bold and sometimes unusual flavours.
Do not be mistaken by the name, though. These are not simply traditional burgers. There are a variety that are dairy free, gluten free, halal, vegan, and vegetarian. There are also burgers designed for breakfast and ones for dessert. You can see the full lineup on the burgerbash.ca website.
In Bayers Lake, Steele Wheels is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang with a burger featuring an onion ring, chorizo mac and cheese and BBQ sauce. Big League’s Bayers Lake has a Cubano inspired burger. Jungle Jim’s is loaded with beef, cheese and bacon in a burger aptly titled The Defibrillator. Moxi’s promises a spicy burger featuring an assortment of peppers. Highlights in Bedford include a Sweet Heat Breakfast Sandwich from Chicken Little Café, The Elvis Burger from True North Diner which is served on a toasted powdered sugar donut, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Burger from Millstone Public House in case you were craving a pizza but still wanted to support burger week and Feed Nova Scotia.
Moving over to Clayton Park and Fairview, offerings include Grichi which has a Peri Peri Burger, Rinaldo’s Fairview is promising a Cheesy Pickle, and Charger Burger has a haloumi burger. Golden Ticket not only has brie and root beer glazed pork belly, but the burger is also topped with edible gold! For those of you in Sackville, Roy’s Restaurant is offering up your choice of Lamb, Beef, or Falafel on their burger. If you have not had a chance to try out the kitchen at Great Roads Brewing, the brewery has a fully loaded Roadhouse burger which would pair perfectly with their made in-house craft beer.
