To help leaders and supervisors improve their communication skills and increase their influence, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration; is offering a FREE 10-week Communications for Leaders & Supervisors training that will start on, Wednesday, April 17 and take place once per week every WEDNESDAY from 8:30AM – 12:30PM.
Maintaining a smooth and efficient operation of a company requires excellent communication. The main goal of this course is to help students develop the strong interpersonal skills needed for partnerships, relationships, and organizational success. The course on Communications for Supervisors will assist you in developing the confidence to articulate your thoughts, communicate effectively, and navigate the evolving landscape of workplace and consumer communication trends. The goal of this course is to teach you how to function in a multigenerational workplace and what constitutes good workplace communication practices. Additionally, this program is essential for drawing in and keeping the best candidates for employment. The trainer for this program is Margo Hampden. She is the CEO and Co-founder of Blue Coast Consulting Inc., an organization that takes great satisfaction in assisting others in their pursuit of knowledge, development, and success in the workplace.
With over thirty years of managing experience, she is a visionary and inventive leader with a dynamic style. In federal, provincial, and nonprofit organizations, she has held high leadership positions. Prioritizing leadership, communication, and strategic development were among her latest duties as the provincial government’s Executive Director of African Nova Scotian Affairs.
In addition to the maritime sector with the Port of Halifax, she has experience working across Canadian and US borders in a variety of important domains, including business, education, diversity and inclusion, human resources, and supplier diversity. Margo was a member of many community boards, including the Black Business Initiative board of directors for a number of years. In addition to being a member of the International Personnel Management Association-ACP and possessing an Executive Master of Business Administration and a Certification in Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Resolution, Margo also loves to spend time with her family, friends, and the community. She is an ardent golfer.
