When summer finally makes its way to Halifax, families start looking forward to fun things to do on the weekends and in the evenings. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of events throughout July to suit all interests and ages. Everyone may find something to enjoy in this quaint marine city, whether they are locals or tourists. This July, Halifax is home to a number of highly recommended family-friendly events, ranging from outdoor experiences to cultural festivals.
Maritime Fiddle Festival
The annual Maritime Fiddle Festival, Canada’s oldest old-time fiddle competition, promises to be a toe-tappin’ fun time. Participants and spectators from all around North America and the world are invited to the festival each year. Bring your family on July 5-6 at the NSCC Ivany Campus Dartmouth!
Halifax Mural Festival
The Halifax Waterfront and Quinpool Road will host the Halifax Mural Festival from July 6–14, 2024. Witness local and international artists breathing life into blank walls and splattering color over them. Visit their website (https://www.halifaxmuralfestival.ca/) for events, entertainment for the whole family, street performers, music, and much more.
Halifax Pride Festival
Every year, the 2SLGBTQ+ community gathers for 11 days in the Halifax Regional Municipality for the Halifax Pride Festival. It includes more than 150 Pride and community-organized events honoring the activism, history, culture, and tenacity of the LGBT community. Although the Halifax Pride Society plans a lot of events, both big and small, they also actively collaborate with different LGBT groups and individuals all year long to assist them in organizing their own events and activities.
Dartmouth at Dusk
Established in 2014, the Dartmouth Makers are a non-profit, volunteer-driven society of artists and crafts people. Their vision is to create a Vibrant Downtown Dartmouth Arts Community by creating opportunities to showcase quality work and promote local talents. Their mission is to provide affordable craft shows where artists, crafters, and makers can go to sell their work.
Nova Multifest
Join the annual Multifest at Alderney Landing and celebrate Nova Scotia this coming July 19-21! Multifest is an event that celebrates diversity and culture. It will feature a variety of cultural foods, music, art, and displays. Take in exhibitions, performances, and displays that highlight the multicultural fabric that defines Nova Scotia.
