(Halifax, NS) – Local professional dance company, Rooted Dance Projects is back with their beloved murder mystery inspired dance show, WHODUNIT?, packed with original jazz dance & live music: November 6, 2024 at the Bella Rose Arts Centre in Halifax, NS.
Rooted Dance Projects will move into the stunning Bella Rose Theatre for 4 days, which will include 3 day time school shows for local students in grades 4-12, and a public performance on November 6 @ 7pm.
This has all been made possible through partnerships with Halifax Regional Arts (HRA) and The Bella Rose Arts Centre (BRAC). Aren Morris with HRA has organized the school performances, along with creating pre-show materials for teachers to share with their students before attending the show. BRAC has donated the theatre space for the 4 day residency, and is working alongside HRA to make the performances accessible to all attending students.
First premiering in 2022, WHODUNIT? has seen great success, and has become a well known and beloved show within the local arts community. Created by Kathleen Doherty, featuring live jazz music composed by Andrew Jackson, the show is a twist on a classic murder mystery. The movement is rooted in Jazz dance, with rhythm, connection, groundedness, and a major sense of ensemble between the entire cast of dancers & musicians. With laughs throughout, the cast takes audiences on a journey to solve the mystery, while accusing one another along the way.
Company Artistic Director and Choreographer, Kathleen Doherty speaks about the show:

WHODUNIT? features local professional dance artists: Isaac Abriel, Marrin Jessome, Michèle King, Stephanie Mitro & Liliona Quarmyne, with guest performer, tap dancer: MacKenzie Greenwell.
The incredible band includes: Keith Doiron (bass), Andrew Jackson (trombone), Caito MacDonald (drums) & Sam Wilson (guitar).
WHODUNIT? promises to be a fun night of mystery, music & dance for all ages!
