Poilievre’s Visit to Halifax West a Big Boost for Batherson
When Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre comes to knock on doors in your community, a candidate better be ready to run.
That’s the lesson Halifax West Conservative candidate Rob Batherson learned when the popular national party leader came to visit Bedford on January 24.
The Conservative Leader and his local candidate sprinted door to door on several quiet West Bedford streets to hear from voters in the lead up to this year’s federal election.
“Halifax West voters were really excited to meet Pierre Poilievre,” said Batherson, who was nominated Conservative candidate for Halifax West in November. “They wanted to talk to him about affordability, housing and the economy and they liked what they heard. Pierre’s mission to bring home Canada’s promise with a plan to axe the tax, build the homes, x the budget and stop the crime is exactly the kind of change Halifax West is looking for.”
Poilievre and Batherson also visited the Bedford facility of Leonardo DRS, meeting local workers who are employed in the company’s naval electronics unit.
“Pierre’s plan to reinvest in Canada’s military will not only ensure a stronger country, but it will also bring home more powerful paycheques for our people,” added Batherson.
A longtime Nova Scotia business owner, Batherson brings a wealth of community experience. He’s a former chair of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, a former chair of Neptune Theatre, as well as serving on the boards of Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Mount Saint Vincent University. Former Halifax Armdale Liberal MLA Ali Duale recognized Batherson’s volunteer service in 2023 by nominating him for a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.
“Giving back to community is all about helping others and working together to make good things happen,” said Batherson. “ That’s the practical, common-sense approach I take in everything I do and that’s the kind of Member of Parliament I will be for the people of Halifax West.”
As a former President of the Conservative Party of Canada and Director of Conservative Fund Canada, Batherson can also make sure that the priorities of Halifax West are heard in a Pierre Poilievre government. Batherson has been championing local issues with Nova Scotia Conservative Members of Parliament Chris d’Entremont, Dr. Stephen Ellis and Rick Perkins and other Conservative MPs from across Canada.
“Canadians want and expect that 2025 will be the year that Pierre Poilievre becomes Prime Minister,” added Batherson. “I want to put my know how and experience to work for the people of Halifax West as a strong, effective voice in the Pierre Poilievre Conservative government.”
