As Halifax West Conservative candidate Rob Batherson continues to knock on doors over the winter, he’s hearing a lot of support for Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s Canada First plan.
“When I’m speaking with voters, people recognize that Pierre Poilievre has been right about all the major issues facing Canadians, including the Liberal carbon tax and capital gains tax hike on doctors and job creators, inflation, interest rates, housing and homelessness, the budget and crime,” said Batherson. “With so much uncertainty in the world right now, Halifax West voters are looking for change so that Canada can finally have strong, smart leadership to restore Canada’s promise.”
Batherson noted that in December, Poilievre was the first national leader to call out President Donald Trump’s statement that Canada will become the 51st state. Poilievre has also outlined a detailed Canada First plan to protect Canadians by:
• Retaliating with dollar-for-dollar tariffs carefully aimed at maximizing impact on American companies while minimizing impact on Canadian consumers.
• Putting all tariff revenues into help for affected workers and businesses.
• Passing a massive emergency Bring It Home Tax Cut to bolster the economy, stop inflation and save and create jobs. Canada needs a massive tax cut on work, investment, energy, homebuilding and making stuff at home. The Liberal carbon tax and capital gains tax hikes must be the first on the chopping block.
• Immediately scrapping the Liberal anti-resource law C-69 and greenlight LNG plans, pipelines, mines, factories and port expansions to overseas markets to reduce our reliance on the US economy and diversify to other countries.
• Knocking down interprovincial barriers to help replace lost north south trade with east-west trade and to make us self-reliant; and
• Rebuilding our military and take back control of our borders to regain the confidence of our partners, assert our sovereignty, protect our people and put Canada First.
Batherson added that Halifax West voters are happy they can vote for Poilievre’s Canada First plan at a time when Liberal leadership front-runner Mark Carney is facing questions about his track record of selling out Canada and being one of the country’s biggest carbon tax supporters.
“Mark Carney moved his company’s head office from Canada to the United States right after Donald Trump became President. His ongoing support of the Liberal carbon tax will also bring a smile to Donald Trump as he works to steal our jobs to south of the border. Canadians deserve better,” concluded Batherson. “Canada’s economy needs Pierre Poilievre’s Canada First plan to ensure our country always remains the True North Strong and Free.”
