Real Atlantic Superstore and No Frills stores in Nova Scotia, in partnership with their generous customers, have raised more than $64,000 to support local families who rely on food banks in their communities. The funds were raised through the annual “Feed More Families” Spring Food Drive, which ran from March 13 to April 2. This initiative is a key part of the Loblaw “Feed More Families” pledge, a company-wide commitment to partner every store selling food with a local food charity, ensuring good food reaches those in need and reduces waste.
In the Halifax region, Atlantic Superstore and No Frills locations raised more than $25,000 for Feed Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia store that raised the most money during the food drive was the Sackville Atlantic Superstore, where store customers and colleagues together donated more than $7500.
“Feed Nova Scotia and local food banks across Nova Scotia are vital resources in our communities, and we are incredibly proud to support their mission,” said Ken Chapdelaine, District Manager, Atlantic Superstore. “The Feed More Families Spring Food Drive, along with our ongoing food reclamation programs, allows our stores to make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbours in Halifax and across the province.”
Loblaw is committed to addressing food insecurity across Canada. One hundred percent of eligible Loblaw stores and distribution centres are partnered with local food banks and food recovery agencies. Since 2022, Loblaw grocery stores in Nova Scotia have donated more than $430,000 and over 1.2 million pounds of food to Feed Nova Scotia and other local area food banks through food drives, demonstrating a sustained commitment to addressing food insecurity in the region.
“More than 35,000 Nova Scotians accessed food banks in the first quarter of 2025 alone,” commented Ash Avery, Executive Director of Feed Nova Scotia. “As the need for emergency support continues to grow, food banks, meal programs, and shelters rely on community partners like Atlantic Superstore and No Frills to help them try and meet that need.
“In-store food drives, in addition to their food recovery programs, supply local food banks with much needed resources, while also reducing waste and providing access to fresh, local foods for Nova Scotians experiencing food insecurity. Feed Nova Scotia is grateful for the ongoing collaboration and support of Atlantic Superstore, No Frills, and other Loblaw stores along with their commitment to combatting food insecurity across Nova Scotia,” said Avery
