By Lina Hamid, MLA Fairview-Clayton Park

Hi Friends, it is an honour to be writing as your Member of the Legislative Assembly for Fairview-Clayton Park.

Over the last six months I have enjoyed knocking on hundreds of doors and visiting with many amazing local businesses and organizations throughout the community. As a new MLA this has been an exciting and productive period of learning, listening, connection and action.

The first sitting of the 65th Legislative Assembly, Session 1 took place from February 14 to March 26. It was an action-packed sitting that raised significant concerns from the public over the province’s priorities, and it is unfortunate that we saw a shift in focus away from the immediate crises and issues like housing and health care that Nova Scotians voted for during the provincial elections. During this time I received hundreds of emails, read passionate op-eds, and attended rallies where Nova Scotians made their voices heard loud and clear. I was deeply moved and inspired to see this wellspring of civic engagement- this is democracy in action!

Although the Legislative sitting has ended, the work continues. My colleagues and I are committed to proposing and fighting for real solutions to address what matters most to Nova Scotians. Housing that people can actually afford, plans to attach more Nova Scotians to primary care, better access to pharmacare and help with power bills are urgent issues that we remain focused on addressing.

LET’S STAY IN TOUCH!
My constituency office is located at 3845 Joseph Howe Drive, Suite 203, and we are open from 10am-3pm Monday to Friday. We are here to assist you in navigating provincial government programs and services, and always want to hear about the issues that matter most to you.

You can also find me on Facebook as Lina Hamid, MLA for Fairview-Clayton Park, and Instagram at @ linahamidfcp. Stay tuned later this Spring for the launch of my website and email newsletter.

Serving this community fills my heart with pride, gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility. Thank you Fairview- Clayton Park for putting your trust in me- I pledge to be your voice and tireless advocate in the Nova Scotia Legislature and beyond.
