In last month’s edition, we talked about some fun things and activities happened in Nova Scotia. In this month’s article, we are going to find out what more we could explore in August. Do you want to test out your dance skills? Maybe enjoy a good night of live music? Or wandering around and getting lost in the world of delicious food and beverages? You’re in the right place.

Dancing is a great way to socialize with like-minded people in the community. I really enjoy dancing under the stars with cool breeze. Luckily, the Kizomba dance class starts every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at Tall Ships Quay. Kizomba is originated from Africa, has a similar frame to Tango, and is often referred to as African Tango. If you enjoy a more fast-paced dancing, the Garden Restaurant offers Salsa and Bachata socials every Wednesday evening with a variety of music for you to listen to, to try a few steps, or just simply sit back and relax, have a drink, and watch others. The Haliente studio also has dance classes and socials on Thursday and Saturday evenings at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia this summer. Are you a big fan of Blues or Fusion dance? Some cool folks will teach you how to move your body Sunday evenings at the Tall Ships Quay. So, dust off your dance shoes and pick one of those evenings to try out a new type of dance and have some fun.

Now that we get you to move your hips from Wednesdays to Sundays, we will now list some concerts and music festivals that are happening in August. Symphony NS Percussion Trio will be performing on August 10 at Queen Marque Steps. The very popular Folk Harbour festival will take place in Lunenburg from August 4 to August 7. They have some of the best artists representing traditional and contemporary folk music. Okay, now it comes to the famous Martha Wainwright, singer/ songwriter/performer, whose song, Stories I Might Regret Telling You, was included on the National Best Sellers list. This month, Marth Wainwright will return to Halifax to perform in support of her latest album, Love Will Be Reborn, at The Stage at St. Andrew’s on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Be sure to grab your tickets before they are gone.

How about some cold beverages during these hot summer days at the Seaport Cider and Beerfest on August 4? Or you could check out the Nite Market every Thursday at Sparkles n’ Sawdust Studio where it has food, drinks, crafts, and arts. Last but not least, the Indian Fest will take place at the Halifax Forum from August 12-14 where you can enjoy some delicious food along with the lovely music and dance. The list goes on. Which ones would you like to try this month?
