When we had our first snow in November, I reminisced about how much I loved snow as a kid. I have always been fascinated with snow, as if it had some magic power. When those pretty snowflakes hit the ground, they remind me of joy and purity. December is the month of recharge; I enjoy curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and reading a romantic novel. December is also the month of love, to give and to receive; and the month of get-togethers or getaways with family, friends, and the loved ones.
After months of hard work, I look forward to gaining prosperities at the end of a year. Being in the wilderness and relaxing in a hot tub are the best ways for me to destress and to recap the year. To treat myself, I was purposely searching for a spa where I could enjoy the stillness of nature. I found this beautiful resort along the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island (Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort) where I had a tremendous experience recently. I stayed in one of the domes and loved looking at the stars through the skylight while falling asleep dreaming about outer space. Waking up early and taking a hike on the trail full of apple trees was a marvelous way to start the day. I still remember the sensations when my face was touched by crisp air and the aroma of burning oak firewood mixed with freshly brewed java coffee. Taking a stroll to the other side of the resort to spend the afternoon in the hot tub was the highlight of my trip. In the evening, a fantastic live band played many heart-felt songs that I could sing along to while enjoying a lovely meal with new friends. These are my finest memories that make me want to come back.
This trip was incredible as it allowed me to immerse myself in nature, ground and reconnect with my energy, listen to my heartbeat by the ocean, practice self-awareness, and awaken my five senses by eliminating modern distractions. Holidays are not just about gifts, but also about spending quality time with the loved ones and remembering those who are far away. The best gift is to live well. So how would you like to spend your holidays this year? You can take on a challenge to love and treat yourself this month. I can feel that love is in the air.
