Discover Halifax’s Beaches!

More than 13,000 kilometers of breathtaking coastline, dotted with beaches of all varieties, may be found in Nova Scotia. We have beaches to fit every taste, whether you’re looking for a tranquil escape in the Peggy’s Cove Coastal Region or a casual excursion along the wild Eastern Shore.

Put your bucket list on hold for a little while and take some time to explore the Halifax area using these leisurely beach tours as your roadmap.

Lawrencetown Beach
Visitors are greeted with saline ocean breezes, never-ending sunshine, and unaltered vistas at Lawrencetown Beach Provincial Park. Set out on a hike along the spectacular 10-kilometer Atlantic View Trail, a coastal greenway that passes through salt marshes, headland cliffs, beaches, and woods. After your climb, turn around and return to the beach to treat yourself with a plunge in the cool ocean.

Visit Fancy Lucky Vintage at The MacDonald House, a historic structure with a view of the seaside, to explore at local artwork. Watch surfers ride the swells below as you eat at Lawrencetown Beach Café.

Psyche Cove Beach
While exploring the picturesque pathways of the coastal forest at Taylor Head Provincial Park in Spry Bay, you’ll come across mesmerizing vistas, marshes, and pebble coastlines that have been beaten by the waves. After your climb, take a refreshing plunge in Psyche Cove Beach’s crystal-clear blue waters. Before heading to Sheet Harbour, where you’ll have a well-earned supper on the sun-drenched patio at The Henley House*, dry off on the smooth, white sand.

To enjoy the gorgeous trip back to the city, get some locally brewed beer at Sober Island Brewing Company to take home.

Not yet prepared to depart from the lovely Eastern Shore? Spend the night at The Marmalade Motel in Port Dufferin by traveling a little distance inland.

Crystal Crescent Beach
Starting with a trip to Crystal Crescent Beach, the ideal morning in Halifax is established. Plan to explore the hidden coves and picturesque Pennant Point Trail, which loops along the coast and across the craggy peninsula, at sunrise when the beach is peaceful and undisturbed. Stop by Pavia Gallery – Espresso Bar & Café on your way back to Halifax for a freshly brewed cup of coffee and delicious pastries on the sunny patio.

Not one for the mornings? Plan to visit Crystal Crescent Beach at sunset when the beach is drenched in hues of soft pink and purple and bring a comfortable sweater. Pick up some sweets to-go on your way out at Pavia, then take a picnic in the exquisite sunset light in the soft white sand.

Queensland Beach
Visit Queensland Beach if you want to spend the day at the beach, followed by dinner and a show. Before beginning your excursion, take a stroll along the St. Margaret’s Bay Rails to Trails. Cruise along the renowned Lighthouse Route. The 33-kilometer trip may be started at any point along the way, and you’ll pass through beautiful forest before arriving at Queensland Beach for a plunge in the gently lapping waters.

Make your way to Tuna Blue Inn & Restaurant* as the sun begins to set for oceanfront al fresco dining and live music. Become in love? One of the six lovely suites above the restaurant can be used to extend a brief stop into one or two nights.
