The Fairview Clayton Park Market is here to stay! With incredible community support, we launched on June 9th, and wow, did you ever show up! We welcomed nearly 600 customers to our opening market!
We are so thrilled that we’re able to welcome you to this new outdoor neighbourhood market on a weekly basis, on Wednesday evenings now through October 27th. When the original market site was found not to be feasible, community members rallied around the idea of a neighbourhood market, secured a new location, and pushed on.
This market tells a story of a community coming together to increase access to fresh, local, and affordable food; to create spaces that support local business and in turn stimulate the local economy. It’s a story of a market built for you, by you, and we intend to keep it that way! We have room to grow through the season and would love to know what local products you’d like to see on offer. Stop by 27 Vimy Ave. (the parking lot of Centennial Arena) on Wednesday evenings from 4-8pm to explore and let us know!
You will recognize several of the vendors from the communities of Fairview and Clayton Park. Others are new to the area, or just getting their business started. When it comes to selection, the market has it all. The best part: everything on offer is made, baked, and grown in Nova Scotia. Look for locally grown fruits and vegetables, farm fresh meat, homemade breads, pastries, and sweets, jams and jellies, spice blends, preserves, and more. Make it an evening event with dinner from local classics like Khan’s HFX or Bud the Spud’s iconic food truck. Don’t forget to stock up on home essentials like handmade soaps and take time to browse the impressive assortment of local artisan crafts, such as handmade jewellery and environmentally conscious clothing.
The market is more than just your one-stop-shop for local products. It’s a place for the community to safely connect and gather. Take some time to chat with your local producers and get to know the story of your food from farm-to-table. Meet your local makers and learn of the passion and care that goes into their process. Catch up with your neighbours set to the sounds of local musicians, and leave feeling refreshed by the sense of community that embodies the neighborhoods of Fairview and Clayton Park.
The market relies on a supportive network of vendors, volunteers, musicians, and customers. It wouldn’t be possible without YOU. Please know that we have COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure your safety and that of the community.
